Another calendar month has gone by, which means there are more new releases to look forward to! The month of February isn’t as exciting as January in terms of releases in general. However, I handpicked a few gems to bring your attention to the best YA SFF of February 2020. Are you ready to squeal over these amazing titles with me?
YA SFF of February 4th, 2020

All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace
✨Genre: Fantasy
✨Series: 1st book in a duology
✨Why I’m excited for it: I’ve been seeing this book everywhere recently and was blown away by the synopsis when I checked it out! I love seeing pirates in fantasy settings and this one sounds really cool with a strong female protagonist. Also, the font on the cover and the colour scheme are so attractive and I’m hoping the inside will match.
✨Community review: Austine @ Novel Knight (3 stars)

Deathless Divide by Justina Ireland
✨Genre: Fantasy
✨Series: 2nd book in a duology
✨Why I’m excited for it: I was very excited when Dread Nation came out, but somehow I never managed to read it. Now that the sequel is out, I’m running out of excuses. If historical fantasy and zombies are your thing, this one will be right up your alley too!
✨Community review: Linz @ Will Read For Booze (4.5 stars)

Belle Révolte by Linsey Miller
✨Genre: Fantasy
✨Series: None
✨Why I’m excited for it: There’s just something magical about the lookalike trope and this book focuses mainly on two girls trading places to achieve their dreams. I’m expecting some epic female friendships and a commentary on women in science. It’s also giving off a French vibe, which just adds to my excitement.
✨Community review: Annemieke @ A Dance with Books (4 stars)

YA SFF of February 11th, 2020

Ink in the Blood by Kim Smejkal
✨Genre: Fantasy
✨Series: 1st book in a duology
✨Why I’m excited for it: Any fantasy book that explores themes of religion draws me in and this one promises to a bloody one. Tattoo magic and theatre sound like very different elements to include but it has really increased my curiosity as to how they are all tied together. It also has a host of LGBTQ+ representation, which makes my heart happy!
✨Community review: Charvi @ Not Just Fiction (4.5 stars)

Heart of Flames by Nicki Pau Preto
✨Genre: Fantasy
✨Series: 2nd in a trilogy
✨Why I’m excited for it: Dragons are easily the most beloved creatures in this genre but somehow I’ve always been more attached to phoenixes. I was interested in this series ever since the first book, Crown of Feathers, started getting rave reviews around its time of release. This is a trilogy so I may wait until the third book to read them all together but this one sounds like a very promising sequel!
✨Community review: Haley Renée @ The Caffeinated Reader (5 stars)

YA SFF of February 18th, 2020

Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon
✨Genre: Fantasy
✨Series: 1st book in a trilogy
✨Why I’m excited for it: I’m a huge fan of Sandhya’s books and I will read anything she writes. But a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a touch of magic and modern-day royals? It sounds like a treat and I’m so lucky to have the opportunity to read an early copy!
✨Community review: Review + Blog Tour Stop @ Novels and Nebulas (5 stars)

The Life Below by Alexandra Monir
✨Genre: Science fiction
✨Series: 2nd book in a duology
✨Why I’m excited for it: I didn’t hear much about the first book when it came out but the cover seemed familiar. The series promises space travel, challenging tests and nerdy kids trying save humanity. I love this kind of premise so I couldn’t resist adding this to my list!
✨Community review: Fanna @ Fannatality (4 stars)

YA SFF of February 25th, 2020

Rebelwing by Andrea Tang
✨Genre: Fantasy and science fiction
✨Series: 1st book in a duology
✨Why I’m excited for it: Ah, this sounds like the perfect mix of sci-fi and fantasy and I’m so ready for it! A sentient cybernetic dragon, a gang of teenagers against an evil corporation and a reluctant, morally grey heroine – all of this is like music to my years. I don’t see a lot of hype surrounding this book so if you love these tropes like I do, I strongly suggest pre-ordering it.
✨Community review: Lili @ Utopia State of Mind (5 stars)

We Unleash the Merciless Storm by Tehlor Kay Meija
✨Genre: Fantasy
✨Series: 2nd book in a duology
✨Why I’m excited for it: Looking to read some F/F in February? Then you have got to check out this series! It’s got rivals to lovers F/F romance, politics and fierce female characters. I’ve hear nothing but good things about the first book so naturally the second is on my TBR too.
✨Community review: Cande @ Latinx Magic (5 stars)

The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow
✨Genre: Science fiction
✨Series: None
✨Why I’m excited for it: Just looking at that cover had me convinced I should put this on my TBR. It’s got music, a secret library and a dangerous road trip with a bit of romance thrown in. It’s also a debut novel and it sounds so promising!
